For the second year in a row, Gartner has recognized TARA as a Representative Vendor for its product roadmapping tool in its November 2018 Market Guide for Product Management and Roadmapping Tools.
As Gartner’s report points out, “many application leaders are shifting from project to product management, but lack the means to plan and manage products effectively. … [and] the market for product management and roadmapping tools and related services is developing rapidly.”
Gartner also predicts that “by 2022, 70% of organizations will adopt a product-centric delivery model and move away from project management practices.”
“By 2023, over 75% of product managers will rely on product management and roadmapping tools to improve planning and communication with IT and business stakeholders.”
The report also mentions that “the market for product management and roadmapping tools has continued to grow significantly in the past five years.”
In particular, “Gartner expects product management and roadmapping tools to achieve widespread adoption by product-driven organizations supporting digital business. Prompted by this activity and growth, inquiries and searches on gartner.com for “product management” and related topics from users have significantly increased between 4Q17 and 3Q18.”
According to Gartner, “The market for product management and roadmapping tools will continue to grow rapidly and includes both established vendors with comprehensive offerings and promising recent entrants. … [and] product management is essential for the success of the digital business.”
Who is TARA?
TARA is a product innovation platform, powered by artificial intelligence based in San Jose, California and Buffalo, New York.
TARA strives to simplify the product management process by combining human talent and work automation to allocate resources, avoid product delays, and help speed up the innovation process.
The Importance of Roadmapping Tools
According to Gartner, product management and roadmapping tools “help make roadmaps visible and transparent, which benefits multiple stakeholders.,” and “the visualization capabilities of tools also make for “easier collaboration with and between staff in IT application development and multiple lines of business such as marketing, finance and operations .”
As Gartner further points out, “Some are struggling to keep application development plans up to date with changing business requirements.”
However, we feel roadmapping tools such as TARA are key to the product development process and can help mitigate issues that could otherwise derail a product’s course.
Product roadmapping tools can bolster effective communication within a team, increase the overall efficiency of the product development process, and create more flexibility to changes throughout the production lifecycle.
